The secret of how to stay healthy and wrinkles-free without surgery and medications

A village outside Tokyo, a molecule we lose every year, and why most HA on the shelf never arrives.

There is a village in Japan where people routinely live into their 90s never sick a day in their lives. Cancer, Alzheimer’s, and even wrinkles are rare. Connie Chung of ABC News visited Yuzurihara, about two hours outside Tokyo. The report is documented in the video “The Miracle of Hyaluronic Acid.”

Scientists first thought the answer was good genes — until the villagers’ children moved to Tokyo, started getting sick like the rest of us, and died years before their parents. A low-stress lifestyle helps, but other low-stress places still get sick. The secret is their diet: very little meat, sticky starches and vegetables, and a special potato that grows in that village. That diet gives them an abundance of hyaluronic acid (HA).

HA is something we are born with, and we lose about 1.5% each year. It enables the body to retain moisture. It keeps joints lubricated and skin smooth and elastic. Why not just import the potatoes? Most people will hate the diet. You would need to eat it from almost the moment you are born, because you cannot rebuild HA from food — you can only slow the loss.

In nature the HA molecule is 300 kDa or more. It should be around 1.5–2.5 kDa for the body to absorb it. Nearly all HA products on the market, supplements or cosmetics, fail because the molecule is too large. It is not what we take. It is what the body absorbs.

There is an enzyme called hyaluronidase that kills HA and speeds aging. The Yuzurihara diet deactivated this enzyme. After more than 20 years of research, an American company discovered a natural source that replenishes HA, collagen, and other components in the same proportions the body is built from; has an optimized molecule for absorption; deactivates hyaluronidase; is absorbed starting under the tongue; was examined for GRAS; is liquid; and is proven in double-blind, placebo-controlled human studies.
