Health benefits of resveratrol
The French paradox, SIRT1, and why two servings of Life carry resveratrol with the patented liquid.
Resveratrol is found in many plants, peanuts, and berries, and in red wine at 0.1–14.3 mg/L. Isolated in the 1940s as a plant defense against microbes, it was later tied to the “French paradox” — unexpectedly low heart disease in Southern France despite a diet high in saturated fat.
In 2003 Dr. David Sinclair at Harvard found resveratrol could extend animal lifespan from 24% to as much as 59%, and that it turns on SIRT1, a primary gene related to how quickly we age. SIRT1 alters gene expression in brain, heart, and skeletal muscle, improves mitochondrial function, and reduces inflammation. Before resveratrol, the only practical way to push SIRT1 was caloric restriction — effective, and miserable.
Resveratrol mimics caloric restriction and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects. Animal work and human trials have looked at type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurodegeneration, fatty liver, and some cancers. Cardiometabolic signals include reduced inflammation, improved insulin sensitivity and glucose homeostasis, and upregulated mitochondrial biogenesis.
As we age, tiny blood vessels wither, flow falls, and organs starve of oxygen — a constellation Sinclair’s group has described as vascular aging: cardiac and neurologic trouble, muscle loss, impaired wound healing, frailty. Muscle shrinks. Exercise slows it, then exercise itself becomes less effective as cells lose SIRT1. Resveratrol boosts SIRT1 activity.
Other researched directions: insulin sensitivity, joint comfort via cartilage, brain protection, memory, cerebral circulation, and mood. Two daily servings of Liquid BioCell Life contain the resveratrol of 8 bottles of red wine, riding along with the patented formula. Speak with your clinician if you take medication; resveratrol can interact. There is no quick fix. The map is still diet, blood sugar, protein, phytonutrients, stress, fewer toxins, muscle, and high-quality supplements that rebuild tissue and mitochondria.
