Osteoarthritis pilot — Miami Research Associates
Dr. Eric Sheldon, rheumatologist and voluntary instructor at the University of Miami School of Medicine, ran a placebo-controlled pilot in 16 men and women with osteoarthritis for 8 weeks. Daily BioCell Collagen II (type II collagen, chondroitin sulfate, and hyaluronic acid) produced clinically meaningful improvements significantly superior to placebo, with no greater incidence of adverse events. “We used a symptom assessment tool that is used routinely in OA drug studies and the results are encouraging.”

How is this different from collagen powders?
Collagen by itself is flour. You cannot bake a cake with flour alone. Most powders are that — one ingredient, too large to show up in the blood. Liquid BioCell® is the patented formula: type II collagen, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate kept together at a molecular weight the body can use. That mix mirrors human articular cartilage. Does this match human cartilage?
Yes. The patented matrix is built from the same families as human articular cartilage: type II collagen, hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, and keratan sulfate. Dry cartilage is about 60% type II collagen, 22% chondroitin sulfate, 13% keratan sulfate and other glycoproteins, and 5% hyaluronic acid. The matrix is 55% type II collagen, 20% chondroitin sulfate, 15% keratan sulfate and other glycoproteins, and 10% hyaluronic acid. Same pieces. Same job. The source is a specific section of chicken sternal cartilage — chosen because it mirrors human joint tissue. Not the whole bird. Not even the whole sternum. Native collagen is still too large to absorb — you cannot put a basketball through a fishing net — so the liquid is hydrolyzed small enough to get through. The pies live on the Science page.

How much do I take?
For the patented liquids, two bottles a month is the minimum dose. One bottle a month will not work in the vast majority of cases, which is why we do not offer it.
